Word Crush Wednesday

Word Crush Wednesday – Audrey Hepburn #2

Happy Word Crush Wednesday everyone! Continuing on with the women of the past theme this month, I will once again be featuring a quote from my biggest idol in all aspects of life, Audrey Hepburn. I told the story last week of how I came to discover this wonderful woman, but I know that many people are falsely under the impression that all she did for her claim to fame was be a talented actress. Audrey Hepburn was so much more than that, and I think it’s a shame that more people don’t know about all she did in her life. She spent her teen years under Nazis repression and risked her life secretly putting on ballet performances to raise money for the Dutch resistance against the Nazis. She spent her later life, post-film career, as a goodwill ambassador of UNICEF and travelled to many third-world countries volunteering, raising awareness and funds, and even won the Presidential Medal of Freedom for all her efforts. Audrey Hepburn was so much more than just a pretty actress, she was a fearless humanitarian who has greatly inspired me in life.
